The curious thing about writing this book proposal is that I forget to talk to you, because I'm writing to you every day, you just... can't read it yet...

Delayed gratification is literally so annoying. I'm trying to get better at it myself.

Over the last few weeks of banging out this proposal, it's been interesting to see the themes that are starting to arise. One of the biggest? How important it is to try and be yourself as much as humanly possible when you're looking for work.

You'd think we all know that one by now, but then we still write To Whom It May Concern, I am writing today to inquire about this opportunity across the top of our cover letters as if we were old-timey British vampires in the year 1907.

Satisfyingly, my last six trips have been to Bordeaux, Berlin, Bay Area, Barcelona, Berlin, Buenos Aires. It would seem that I'm having an alliterative year, who knew. Fun.

I'm here for day job research stuff until Tuesday, then São Paolo for two nights, then back to London.

I've only been on the ground for a few hours, but hear me when I say I plan on making the very most of this incredible week.

I kept doing this funny thing while I was in Berlin all week. Something that feels very... well, frankly, it feels on brand.

Basically, I kept accidentally confusing people.

All week long, I was running into friends and acquaintances left, right, and center (queen of Berlin, what can I say!) and they would do the polite thing where they'd say, "Lex! Great to see you, what brings you to town?"

Me: Just hanging out. Working on the book, happy to be here, you know, the usual."

"Nice. So, are you like... working remotely, or—"

Me: Oh, no, no, I'm on a break.

That's right, I've been talking with real literary agents and everything. That means the #ENTRYLEVELBOSS book is on track to start coming to life.

I'm so excited for this next chapter in ELB land.
