Hey, friends.
Lots going on over here. Most importantly, I got a pedicure today because I am peacing out to Sicily tomorrow for my birthday (!!). Everyone keeps telling me that 27 is a highly transitional year, so I guess I'm pretty excited about it.
In other Alexa news, my new music video from last week blew up a little bit, and specifically, wentreally viral in Mexico City. It's a little bit surreal, but also pretty freaking cool. And I'm now trying to figure out how to tour in that part of the world.
Anyways. Birthday, being a minor celebrity in Latin America, springtime in general. It's all got me thinking. Mostly, about how making decisions (I'm going to move to Berlin! I'm going to put together a rather-thought-through music video just so that I can sing Jack Johnson songs! I'm going to Sicily!) is really what it's all about.
How to make that 3-pointer go swish
Hey, friends.
Welp, I'm dealing with what is shaping up to be a lousy winter cold over here. (Hence this lovely, Pinterest-y photo I screen-grabbed from somebody's Snapchat.) Being nice and patient with myself and plodding through my to-do list in a Tortoise-and-the-Hare kind of way.
And in thinking about to-do lists, I've been thinking about how there are really two different lists I keep in my head from day to day. The first one is, of course, the master list of things I need to get done. The second one, though, is the list of things that really cannot wait another day. The list that must, must, must get done today.
And 99% of the time, that second list is pretty much comprised of follow-ups and follow-throughs.
It's our first birthday today, you guys!
Hey, friends.
Big news today! We just finished recording the very first episode of the upcoming#entrylevelboss PODCAST. I'm thrilled to tell you that we're doing a podcast--and more awesomely, that it really is a "we" these days. I'll be co-hosting the ELB podcast with the truly brilliant, equally pragmatic, warm-hearted, glorious Hanna Lisa Haferkamp.
Among other things, Hanna Lisa was the COO of a 60-employee marketplace startup here in Berlin by the time she was 26--and I cannot think of someone more well-suited to cohost the #entrylevelboss podcast than she.
And it's good timing. Because today is--can you believe it?--the first birthday of #entrylevelboss. I sent out the first version of newsletter to a few close friends, mentors, and family members exactly 365 days ago (back when it was still going to be a YouTube show!), and now there are literally hundreds of you who read this thing every week.
Hot damn, friends. Hot damn.
And now the thing is complete
Hey, friends.
Hot tamale, it's been a busy start to March. A lot up of plates twirling and balls up in the air, but nothing to be too alarmed about. Most notably, the album is now OUT!! I released it to my Kickstarter backers last week and I've been slowly but surely making the rounds to start telling everyone I know.
It's pretty exciting stuff, and especially surreal when I hear that people have actually listened to it the whole way through. More than once, even. That they actually, really, truly like it.
The name of the game is ship it
Hey, friends.
Check me out, eh?! Mama's got herself an album cover. I should total print some vinyl.
So, the album is about to go live--but the process has been very stop-and-start and is not nearly as fancy is it may appear. As a small artist, you have to use all these funny third-party platforms to get your music up on Spotify and iTunes. And I got all excited about this new platform that I was going to use in order to do that, and then they sent out this crazy email this morning about them outsourcing that process and--you know what, this probably isn't very interesting to read.
Short summary: I am doing everything in my power to (hopefully legally) get this album into your earbuds as soon as possible. Naturally, you'll be updated along the way.
Which brings me the theme of the week: Just f*cking ship it.
